Martial Agent Talks To Juventus
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is a summer transfer target for Juventus.
Reports from Italy claim that Juve director Pavel Nedved has had a meeting with Nelio Lucas, a member of the Doyen Sports agency that represents Martial.
The France international is under contract until 2019 and United also have the option to extend his contract by an additional year.
Martial is valued at €65million (£58million) by United according to Italian website Premium Sports.
But the prospect of Manchester United selling one of their key players is a slim once. Martial was slapped down by Jose Mourinho in January 2017 after it emerged his representatives were trying to force through a loan move to Spanish side Sevilla.
At that time Martial was struggling to force his way into the United side. He played 1559 minutes of Premier League football over the whole of last season spread over 18 starts and seven appearances off the bench. He scored four league goals for the side. This season he has scored 1345 minutes in the league in 16 starts and 10 substitute appearances with nine goals.
If Jose Mourinho wasn’t prepared to sell Martial when he wasn’t getting in the side there is little chance of the Frenchman being sold when he is a first-team regular.
A move to Juventus looks unlikely.
Ibrahimovic ‘Falls Out With Mourinho’
Meanwhile, former Chelsea player Adrian Mutu claims the reason Zlatan Ibrahimovic isn’t playing regularly for Manchester United is that he has had a fall-out with Jose Mourinho.
The Swede hasn’t featured for United since Boxing Day when he had a flare-up of the knee injury that kept him out of action from April to November of last year. His comeback lasted just seven games – two starts and five appearances as a substitute.
But speaking to Telekom Sport in Romania, Mutu believes he has a reason for Ibrahimovic’s absence.
“I do not care about Mourinho … Mourinho was never interested in the game – only the result,” said Mutu who played under the current United boss at Chelsea.
“I have information that Ibra is not injured but that his relationship with Mourinho has cooled.”
Ibrahimovic is expected to leave Manchester United at the end of the season. However, the Swede is expected to feature for Sweden at the World Cup finals in Russia this summer.
“The thoughts are there the whole time, but if I want to, I’ll be there,” he told Reuters.
He added that he expected to return to the United first-team soon.
“I want to get to the point where I can perform as I haven’t been able to take part so much during the season.
“When I’m ready to perform. It’s all about that.”
