Pole Is Under Contract At Bayern Until 2021
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has been offered to Real Madrid.
The Poland international has been linked with Real on a number of occasions in the past, but he is under contract at Bayern until the end of June 2021 and the German side are expected to dig in their heels over any exit.
However, Spanish newspaper Marca claims that Lewandowski’s agent Cezary Kucharski has offered the 29-year-old’s services to Real.
Lewandowski is Bayern’s highest-paid player on a basic wage of €15million a year – the equivalent of £250,000 a week. But he turns 30 in August and that alone ought to mean Real’s interest goes no further.
There is still a question about Real’s famed ‘BBC’ front line of Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo. All three have been linked with exits from the Bernabeu although only Benzema is likely to leave the club this summer.
But Lewandowski’s record as a goalscorer is outstanding at Bayern. He has scored 135 goals in 177 games in all competitions for the German side. Take out his first season at the club – 2013-14 – when he scored 25 in 49 games and his record stands at 110 in 128 games. This season alone he has already found the back of the net 25 times in 30 games as Bayern look to add a sixth consecutive Bundesliga title. They are also in the knockout stages of the Champions League where they face Turkish side Besiktas in the first leg on Tuesday 20 February.
Lewandowski has twice met with emissaries from Real Madrid in the past. The first time was in 2014 before he moved from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern. There were further meetings in 2016 before he put pen to paper on his latest deal at Bayern.
