Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann will demand a wage of £400,000 a week to move to Old Trafford.

France international Griezmann is still being linked with a summer move to United from Atletico Madrid. That’s despite United falling behind Barcelona in the race to sign the 26-year-old.

But a number of UK outlets claim that after being offered almost £300,000 a week by United he has upped his demands to £400,000 a week after seeing some of the huge salaries being paid by clubs.

Griezmann’s family are believed to have had talks with Barcelona, much to Atletico’s dismay. The La Liga side are threatening to report Barca to Fifa over what they see as an illegal approach.

It remains to be seen how Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona from Liverpool this weekend will affect Griezmann. Certainly the Brazilian’s wages may have been a factor in Griezmann hiking his pay demands. Coutinho will earn £400,000 a week at the Nou Camp – double what he was earning at Anfield.

Barca will pay up to £142million for the Brazil international. Griezmann’s release clause stands at €100million (currently worth £89million). The Catalans paid £135million this summer to Borussia Dortmund for Ousmane Dembele so the £198million they received from Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar has gone – and some more. There is also Lionel Messi’s new deal worth almost €1million a week plus a costly stadium refurbishment. Barcelona aren’t a bottomless pit of money and their signing of Coutinho could put any Griezmann deal in jepoardy. That would leave him open to a move to United.

Manchester United To Make Early Move For Ozil?

Manchester United could offer Arsenal £35million for Mesut Ozil so the Germany international can move now instead of in the summer.

Ozil is a free agent at the end of the season and he is already free to speak to overseas clubs about a pre-contract agreement. But reports over the weekend claim United could make a move now in order to beat off competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.

United are ready to meet Ozil’s £300,000 a week wage demands. He currently earns around £240,000 a week with Arsenal.
