City In New Link With Arsenal’s Sanchez
Manchester City could make a move this month for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez. The Sky Blues were ready to wait until the summer before signing the Chilean on a free transfer. However, an injury to Gabriel Jesus has caused Pep Guardiola and the City hierarchy to rethink their plans.
City are willing to pay £35million to land Sanchez, according to reports. That’s less than the £60million they were prepared to pay at the end of August, but it is still a figure that Arsenal might find difficult to resist.
Sanchez wasn’t part of the Arsenal squad that was knocked out of the FA Cup by Nottingham Forest on Saturday. That is being taken as an indication that he could be on his way out of the club.
The Chilean’s move to City was scuppered after Arsenal failed to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco as his replacement. Lemar was talked in to staying with the French side for another season after the two clubs had agreed a €100million transfer (at the time worth around £92million). It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will insist on a replacement being in place before they allow Sanchez to leave.
No Arsenal Interest In Da Cruz
Arsenal appear to have passed up the opportunity to sign Dutch forward Alessio Da Cruz. The 20-year-old Dutchman, who plays for Novara in Italy’s Serie B, was linked before Christmas with interest from the Gunners and reports from Italy claim Liverpool and Inter Milan had also been keeping tabs on Da Cruz.
But reports from Italy claim Da Cruz won’t be moving to one of Europe’s top clubs. Instead he looks set to move from one Serie B club to another. Parma are also interested and Da Cruz looks set to have a medical there today before completing his move. Parma will pay a transfer fee of around €3million (£2.7million).
Da Cruz has scored five goals in 19 games this season for Novara.
