West Ham United central defender Reece Oxford looks set to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach and reports from Germany claim they instigated talks before Christmas about a permanent move. However, Gladbach are only prepared to pay €6.2million (£5.5million).

On Thursday afternoon, the BBC reported that another German club, RB Leipzig, are willing to offer West Ham a much larger transfer fee. Leipzig are willing to pay an initial €9million (£8million) with a further €10million (£8.8million) in add-ons and bonuses.

Oxford became the youngest player in West Ham history in 2015 when he made his debut in a Europa League clash with Andorran side Lusitanos. But he has failed to live up to his early promise and new boss David Moyes has sanctioned his sale in January. He was sent out on loan to Gladbach in August but has played just three Bundesliga games.
