New Everton boss Sam Allardyce could put in a bid for Arsenal midfielder Theo Walcott as the Toffees continue their drive up the Premier League table.

Monday night’s victory over Swansea City has lifted Everton in to the top half for the first time since the very start of the season. Allardyce will be given a transfer kitty in January and is being linked with a move for Walcott.

The England international has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates. He has yet to start a Premier League game this season and his three appearances off the bench have totalled just 27 minutes of football. He played all 90 minutes of Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup victory over West Ham United. It was his eighth start in cup competitions.

Allardyce has enquired about Walcott’s availability. The 28-year-old’s £140,000-a-week contract expires at the end of next season.

Everton are still being linked with Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi. The 29-year-old looks set to quit the La Liga side following a fall-out with coach Eduardo Berizzo.

N’Zonzi was spotted in London earlier this month. He claimed he was in the UK to see his son but rumours immediately began over a move to Everton or Arsenal. Allardyce worked with N’Zonzi when the pair were at Blackburn. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of the Frenchman.
