Manchester United To Miss Out On Griezmann
Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann looks set to snub a move to Old Trafford and sign for Barcelona next summer.
The France international was close to a move to Manchester United during the summer until Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban was ratified by the Court Of Arbitration For Sport. That meant the La Liga side couldn’t sign a replacement. Griezmann then signed a new deal with Atletico that includes a release of €100million (£88million) that increases to €200million (£176million) from 1 July next year.
United were expected to come in with a fresh attempt to sign Griezmann at the end of the season. But Barcelona are now the favourites to secure his signature as the Catalan side look to rebuild following the departure of Neymar.
United’s interest in Griezmann has begun to cool with the realisation that he is no longer open to a move to Old Trafford. The Red Devils were linked for much of last season, but the Frenchman’s public utterances on the issue last season all suggested that he was happy in Madrid and in Spain.
Barcelona’s renewed interest suggests Griezmann isn’t interested in leaving La Liga. He has spent all his professional career in Spain first with Real Sociedad and then with Atletico.
Sandro Prefers Chelsea Move
Meanwhile, Manchester United transfer target Alex Sandro prefers a move to Chelsea rather than to Old Trafford.
United were linked last week with the Juventus left-back. But reports today claim that while Sandro has told Juve that he wants to leave the club in the January transfer window he prefers a move to Chelsea.
The 26-year-old looks set to reject the offer of a new deal from the Serie A side. Sandro was linked with Chelsea in the summer and was disappointed not to get a move to Stamford Bridge. His form has suffered this season and he has played in just nine of Juve’s 16 Serie A games.
The Brazilian is expected to cost at least £60million.
