Kondobgia Seen As Dembele Replacement For Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with a move for Valencia midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia. The 24-year-old is being seen as the eventual replacement for Moussa Dembele whose current deal expires at the end of next season and who could be sold next summer.
Kondogbia has long been seen as a target for a number of Premier League clubs. Liverpool and Arsenal both linked during the summer. The Gunners were also linked as long ago as 2015.
But for all the Premier League interest, Kondogbia has spent the whole of his career in France, Spain and Italy.
He first came to prominence at Sevilla where he impressed in the 2012-13 season after his move from Lens. But he was transferred to Monaco in the summer of 2013 and spent two seasons with the Ligue 1 outfit before being sold to Inter Milan for a fee worth up to €36million in 2015.
Kondogbia hasn’t had a great time of it in Italy. He made 43 appearances in the two years he was there, but he was deemed surplus to requirements following the arrival of Luciano Spalletti in the summer.
The France international was touted around a few Premier League clubs in the summer as Inter looked to sell but he has ended up on a season-long loan at Valencia. The move has been good for him. He has started all 12 of Valencia’s La Liga matches since his arrival at the club. Los Che are having one of their best starts to a season in a few years and currently lie in second place in the table five points behind leaders Barcelona.
Tottenham scouts have watched Kondgobia in action on a number of occasions this season. He has impressed in the holding midfield road and his performances have also brought him to the attention of Marseille.
