No Talks Until The Summer
Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard is holding fire over talks about a new deal at Stamford Bridge worth £300,000 a week.
The Belgium international is set to have talks over the new contract that would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
Hazard has long been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge – almost since he joined the west London club in 2012. Paris Saint-Germain were constantly said to be interested and Hazard denied on many occasions that he would be moving to the French capital.
But Real Madrid are now rumoured to be keen. The news comes after Hazard expressed his admiration for Real coach Zinedine Zidane.
“Everyone knows the respect I have for this gentleman, for the player he was and the coach he is today,” Hazard said last month.
“He was my idol. I do not know what that it will happen in my career in the future, but evolving under his orders would be a dream. At the moment I am at Chelsea and I still have a lot of things to do there.”
But Hazard has also tried to play down the link with Real by stating he just wants to concentrate on Chelsea.
“I am just happy with Chelsea. I have a lot to do with Chelsea so I will see in the future,” Hazard said earlier in November. “But now I am just focused on Chelsea and I want to win a lot of things with Chelsea.”
Even so, talks over a new deal won’t begin until the summer.
