Arsenal To Battle Spurs For Richarlison
Arsenal are being linked with a move for Watford striker Richarlison as they eye up a replacement for Alexis Sanchez.
The young Brazilian only moved to Vicarage Road in the summer in an £11.5million transfer from Fluminense in his homeland. But he has made a good start to life in the Premier League with four goals in his opening 11 games and according to the Daily Star that has put Arsenal on alert.
The paper claims that both Arsenal and Tottenham have been keeping tabs on Richarlison and the north London duo could battle it out for the striker in January.
Even if that turns out to be true Watford are unlikely to entertain any bids before the end of the season. A fee of £20-25million has been mooted but the Hornets will hang on until at least the end of the season. Even then, if Richarlison keeps up his current form the price tag will increase.
Gunners To Poach Michael Zorc?
Borussia Dortmund director of football Michael Zorc could be about to take up a similar post at Arsenal. The Gunners have created the position the occupant of which will work alongside Arsene Wenger particularly with regard to player recruitment.
Zorc was linked with the new Arsenal job some six months ago but whatever approach there may have been from Arsenal at that time failed to result in any success.
If true, this would be a huge coup for the Gunners. Zorc has spent the whole of his working life with Dortmund joining the club as a 16-year-old in 1978 and going to make over 600 first-team appearances. When his playing career came to an end in 1999 he moved upstairs to become sporting director, a post he has held ever since.
Arsenal have also been linked with Dortmund chief scout Sven Mislintat who looks set to replace Steve Rowley at the Emirates.
