Manchester United Scouts Among 17 Watching Duo
Manchester United are among no fewer than 17 Premier League clubs watching the Celtic pair of Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele.
Tierney, 20, has already been linked with interest from Old Trafford, but Jose Mourinho opted not to make a move during the summer as he believed that the Scotland international wasn’t quite ready for Premier League football.
According to some outlets, Manchester United are the favourites to sign Tierney if and when he decides to leave Celtic Park. But that might not be for some time yet. He signed a new deal on Monday that could keep him at the Scottish champions until 2023 and he doesn’t look like upping sticks at any time in the near future.
Tierney has already made over 100 first-team appearances since his debut for the club during the 2014-15 season. But the scouts were there last night to see how the youngster coped with the likes of Arjen Robben and James Rodriguez as Celtic took on Bayern Munich in a Champions League group game. Celtic lost 2-1 but Tierney coped admirably with the twin threat of Robben and Rodriguez. The pair swapped wings on numerous occasions but both found the Manx-born Scot difficult to cope with.
Dembele is also being linked with interest from Manchester United. Like Tierney, he has been linked in the past with a move to the Premier League. He scored 32 goals for the Celts last season but he has been less effective so far this season with five goals in 11 games.
The Frenchman was tracked by a number of Premier League clubs last season and there were also reports of talks with Ligue 1 side Marseille. But Celtic remain determined to hang on to the former Fulham man who moved to Celtic Park on a free transfer at the beginning of last season.
