Manchester United To Make Move For Real Madrid Midfielder?

Casemiro Manchester United transfer

Manchester United are prepared to offer Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro a huge pay rise to move to Old Trafford.

Reports from Spain are suggesting that United are willing to offer the Brazilian the same wage that Paul Pogba currently earns – around £290,000 a week – to move to Old Trafford.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho knows Casemiro well from his time at Real Madrid. He had the midfielder scouted when he was head coach at the Bernabeu and Casemiro was playing for Sao Paulo in his homeland.

Casemiro moved to the Bernabeu on loan in January 2013 and was immediately assigned to the club’s B team before spending a season on loan at Portugese side FC Porto after the deal was made permanent in 2014. He has become a permanent fixture since returning from Porto in 2015 and has made a total of 115 appearances in all competitions for Madrid.

Spanish publication Don Balon believes Manchester United will make a move for Casemiro. However, they are likely to encounter some resistance from Real Madrid. The La Liga side regard the 25-year-old as an integral part of their first team. An enquiry from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer was quickly rebuffed. A similar move from United is likely to meet a similar fate.

United Watch Benfica Left-Back

Manchester United have sanctioned a move for Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo. The Red Devils were linked with Grimaldo last year when scouts from Old Trafford watched him in action on a number of occasions.

United scouts are regular attendees at Benfica matches. Now, Portugese newspaper Record claims they will make a move for the 22-year-old, who is valued at around €40million (£35million).

Grimaldo was watched by a number of English clubs when he was with Barcelona. He failed to get much of a chance with the Catalan side’s first team and was sold to Benfica in December 2015 for just £1.5million.

United are reported to be eyeing up a left back with Luke Shaw’s days at Old Trafford seemingly numbered.
