Alves Comments On Sanchez Situation
Paris Saint-Germain right-back Dani Alves says it would be great if the French club could sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
PSG are one of a number of clubs being linked with the Chile international who is out of contract at the Emirates at the end of the season. Sanchez is free to open talks with overseas clubs from 1 January about a Bosman free transfer next summer.
Manchester City remain favourites to secure his signature, but speaking to Chilean newspaper Cooperativa, Alves says he would love to team up with his former Barcelona team-mate at PSG.
“Several teams want him – he is a target for a number of clubs. But if he can join us then it would be great,” said Alves.
Sanchez will spend next summer either preparing for a new step in his career or in talks with Arsenal over a new deal after Chile were eliminated from the World Cup this week. A 3-0 defeat to Alves’s Brazil side meant the Chileans ended the campaign in sixth place in the ten-team group – outside the four automatic qualification places and the fifth-placed play-off spot.
“I did not want to talk to him, because I know how he will feel,” Alves said.
“Besides, he did not want to be seen talking so nobody could question my professionalism or his . Therefore, out of respect for our profession, everyone just did their job.”
Sanchez was close to a move to Manchester City at the end of August when Arsenal agreed to sell him for a fee of £60million. However, the move collapsed when the Gunners were unable to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco as his replacement in a £92million deal.
Manchester City are expected to return with a fresh offer in January – however, it is likely to be for around £20-25million.
Sanchez had talks with PSG in July. However, his wage demands were too high for the French club.
