Liverpool News: Can ‘Honoured’ By Juventus Link

Liverpool Rejected £23m Bid

Emre Can Liverpool transfer news

Liverpool midfielder Emre Can says he is honoured to be the subject of transfer interest from Serie A side Juventus.

Can is out of contract at the end of this season and talks have stalled over a new deal. The Germany international can enter into talks with overseas clubs from 1 January 2018 over a Bosman free transfer at the end of the season.

“It’s always an honour to get an offer from such a prestigious club, but I am currently focused on the season with Liverpool,” Can told German website Kicker. He added that his agent is taking care of talks.

Juventus bid €25million (at the time worth £23million) for Can on the final day of the summer transfer window. The Italian champions are hopeful of enticing the Merseyside club into doing a deal for a player who can leave for nothing next summer. Liverpool rejected the bid in the belief that they can negotiate a contract extension.

However, Can is looking for any new deal to include a release clause having seen Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona scuppered by the lack of any such clause in his contract.
