Perisic Signs New Deal At Inter Milan

Winger Was Wanted By Manchester United In The Summer

Ivan Perisic Inter Milan contract renewal

Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic has signed a new five-year contract extension with Inter Milan.

The Croatia international, who was the subject of three failed bids from United of between £26million and £40million, has put pen to paper on a new deal that runs to 2022.

Perisic will earn a nett wage of €4million a year plus bonuses with Inter. That equates to just over £125,000 a week before tax – a bit less than the £150,000 a week it was being suggested that he could have earned with Manchester United.

“It’s a special day, surely there is some emotion and I’m also happy after the stress of this summer,” said the 28-year-old in an interview with Inter’s TV channel.

“Now I am just looking ahead and I am only thinking of Inter. After the signing, there is only one way of thinking.”

Perisic also said that he was looking forward to continuing his working relationship with Inter coach Luciano Spalletti who was appointed earlier in the summer. The manager told the Inter board to sell other players rather Perisic in the transfer window. Spalletti wanted to build a team around Perisic and the Croatian said he spoke to his Inter team-mate, keeper Samir Handanovic about Spalletti. Handanovic worked under the coach at Udinese.

“For a while I did not make any statements, now I can say that with Spalletti we have already talked about the preparation and he told me that with him there could be an even better Ivan,” said Perisic.

“Handanovic also spoke to me about Spalletti, from the days of Udinese, and he only spoke well about him.

“We have done well in the first two games and now we have to continue this way. The fans are always so many and for us that is even better, so it will be easier with them in their support.”
