Ibrahimovic To Snub LA Galaxy For Manchester United

Ibrahimovic Linked With Manchester United Return

The latest rumour about Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims he is ready to snub interest from LA Galaxy and sign a new deal with Manchester United. But there appears to be nothing concrete in the claim.

Ibrahimovic officially left Old Trafford at the end of June after his one-year contract expired at the club. He is currently sidelined after damaging his cruciate knee ligaments during United’s Europa League victory over Anderlecht at Old Trafford in April.

The Swede was linked last week with a £6million-a-year move to MLS side Galaxy.

However, Italian website Calciomercato claims Ibrahimovic will reject the deal with Galaxy and will instead return to United once he has regained full fitness. However, it cites a spurious story from The Sun as its source.

But a move back to United would make some sense and Ibrahimovic could even make a move to LA once the Premier League season comes to an end.

The 35-year-old is expected to return to full fitness by the end of the year. Because he is a free agent he could conceivably sign a new deal with United before the January transfer window if the club regard him as physically fit and if there is a space in their 25-man squad.

However, any contract offer from Galaxy would be for the 2018 MLS season. The American club commence their pre-season training in February for a campaign that begins in March. Ibrahimovic could join them halfway through the season if he signs a contract with United that runs to the end of 2017-18.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals for United until the injury brought his season to a premature end. There is talk he could even sign for the Premier League club as early as October such are his powers of recovery.

The Swede is set to return to the US later this month for an appointment with Dr Freddie Fu, who operated on his knee after he sustained his injury.
