Chelsea Have ‘Serious Interest’ In Aguero
Chelsea are interested in Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, however City are unlikely to sell.
Argentina international Aguero is the latest striker to be linked with interest from Chelsea. The Premier League champions were linked with Romelu Lukaku earlier this month only for Manchester United to snap up the Belgium international in a £75million deal. They are also said to be interested in Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata although the latest on the Spain international is that he is closer to a move to AC Milan than to Chelsea.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund is also believed to be a Chelsea target. However, the Bundesliga side want a deal done sooner rather than later. Chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said on Sunday that he doesn’t want to be left with too little time to recruit a replacement.
But Spanish journalist Manu Sainz claimed on Sunday that Chelsea are keen on Aguero and that City boss Pep Guardiola has already given his approval to the deal. That would come as some surprise and it would go against Guardiola has said in the past. After City defeated Watford in the final match of last season the City manager was asked about Aguero.
“Okay, guys. He will be here next season,” Guardiola said wearily. “Happy? Good. Perfect.”
Sky Sports claimed on Monday that Chelsea have a “strong and serious” interest in Aguero. That interest hasn’t stopped the 29-year-old from catching a flight to Texas on Monday morning with the rest of his City team-mates.
City take on local rivals Manchester United at the NRG Stadium in Houston on Thursday night before travelling to Los Angeles to face Real Madrid on Wednesday 26 July. They play Tottenham Hotspur in Nashville on 29 July before travelling to Iceland for a game with West Ham United in Reykjavik on 4 August.
