News Comes After Ter Stegen Plays Part In Copa Del Rey Win
Barcelona goalkeeper Marc Andre ter Stegen has signed a new contract at the Nou Camp. The 25-year-old has signed an improved deal that will run to 30 June 2022. It includes a release clause of €180million (£156million). The contract will be formally signed at the Nou Camp Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
The Germany international agreed the deal with Barcelona up to a month ago, but it was decided to wait until the season had ended before making the news public.
Ter Stegen was part of the Barca side that won the Copa del Rey by beating Alaves 3-1 on Saturday. It was his ninth trophy with the club – the club’s third Spanish Cup triumph on the trot and the first time a hat-trick of Copa del Rey wins has been achieved since Barcelona did it in 1953.
Ter Stegen has also won two La Liga titles, the Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, the Uefa Super Cup and the Club World Cup. He is expected to be part of the Germany squad that takes part in the Confederations Cup in Russia this summer.
He has conceded 90 goals in his 93 appearances for the club.
