Luiz Splashes £1m On Gifts For Chelsea Players
Chelsea centre-back David Luiz has celebrated the club’s Premier League triumph by spending £1million on luxury gifts for his team-mates.
The Brazilian has purchased 30 Senturion keys, a wristband with a starting price of £38,000. Luiz distributed the keys to the rest of his team-mates at the club’s Cobham training ground on Friday morning.
The keys can be synced with a range of cars including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti, Bentley, Rolls Royce and McLaren. However, they can also be used to open vaults or even wine cellars. Each Senturion is made from solid 18-carat handcrafted rose gold and contrains 198 black diamonds.
Luiz has had his gifts engraved with the player’s name and squad number and there are also Senturions for members of the Chelsea backroom staff.
The Brazilian has had an outstanding season with the Blues playing in 32 of the side’s 37 Premier League games to date. He returned to Chelsea last summer in a surprise move just two years after being sold to Paris Saint-Germain.
But Luiz has bought a special Senturion for club owner Roman Abramovich. As a token of his appreciation for the Russian oligarch he has purchased a special Senturion made from the remains of a 4.9-billion-year-old metorite.
The Senturion wristband was unveiled last month at the Top Marques motor show in Monaco where it was exhibited alongside the supercars and wealthy participants at what has been described as the world’s most exclusive car show.
Chelsea led the Premier League table from December right up to the end of the season. The Blues went on a 13-game winning streak just before Christmas and Antonio Conte’s side never looked back. With one game left to play they lie seven points ahead of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea wrap up their season with the visit of relegated Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
