Ibrahimovic Set For Manchester United Sale And Loanback?
Manchester United could have Zlatan Ibrahimovic back at the club next season – but only until the end of the calendar year.
Ibrahimovic is out of contract in the summmer, but he is holding fire over a new deal as he waits to see whether United can qualify for the Champions League.
But according to the Daily Mail, Zlatan has been offered a £5million-a-year deal to move to new MLS franchise Los Angeles FC. The deal will gve him the option to head back to Manchester United, or any other European club, during the first half of next season.
Ibrahimovic has also been linked with a move this summer to LAFC’s rivals LA Galaxy which would involve him joining the club on 1 July. That would enable him to see out the current MLS campaign. The regular season runs to October with play-offs scheduled over a six-week period at the end of the campaign.
A move to LAFC wouldn’t see him make his debut until they start playing at the start of next season which begins in March 2018. Rather than him be inactive LAFC would give Ibrahimovic the option to move on loan to a club in Europe, which could conceivably be United. That would give him the opportunity to play in the Champions League group stages – should United qualify.
“We have spoken about the desire for a player of global stature. We want a player who is passionate about becoming the first LAFC legend,” LAFC owner Tom Penn said recently.
“They will likely be loaned back so that they can continue to play football in Europe.”
The Mail believes that player will be Ibrahimovic.
Real ‘To Bid £60m’ For De Gea
Real Madrid will bid £60million for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea. The Spain international is being extensively linked with a move to the Bernabeu and a ‘source’ at the La Liga leaders has told The Sun that he is Real’s prime summer target.
Reports from Spain claim that De Gea was asked in January by his agent Jorge Mendes about a possible move to the Bernabeu. The keeper saw a transfer scuppered by a faulty fax machine at the Bernabeu at the end of the summer 2015 transfer window.
But Real will have to bid £60million for any chance of a bid to succeed. Even then they will meet some resistance from United. De Gea signed a new deal at Old Trafford shortly after Madrid’s previous bid collapsed.
United are said to be worried over the prospect of De Gea leaving. But his girlfriend, the Spanish pop singer Edurne, is looking for a house for the couple in Madrid’s upmarket La Finca district where they would have Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale for neighbours.
PSG Could Scupper Aurier Transfer
Manchester United’s hopes of signing Paris Saint-Germain full-back Serge Aurier rest entirely on the French club allowing him to leave.
Reports on Wednesday claimed Aurier is in talks over a move to Old Trafford after tiring of criticism of his performances this season.
But Aurier will only move if PSG sanction an exit. The French club have a reputation for holding players to their contracts.
If chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi says Aurier is staying then he will have no choice in the matter.
