Manchester United are being linked with midfielders Ousmane Dembele of Borussia Dortmund and Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan.

Dembele was chased by a number of Premier League clubs – including United – last season when he was with French side Rennes. But he disappointed his English admirers by heading off to Dortmund last summer in a deal worth €15million (around £13million).

He chose Dortmund because as a teenager – he turns 20 next month – he figured he would get more playing time with the German side than he would in the Premier League. In that regard he might consider to be proved correct. Dembele has played 27 games in the Bundesliga this season with 18 of those coming as a member of the starting line-up. He also has 13 starts and one appearance off the bench in cup games and has scored a total of eight goals in all competitions.

The Sun claims United will test Dortmund’s resolve with a bid of £50million. Such a bid sounds unlikely but it will fail even if it does happen. Dortmund realise they have one of Europe’s brightest young prospects and won’t allow him to leave after just one season.

The paper adds that if United boss Jose Mourinho fails to land Dembele then he could make a move for Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic.

Rumours surfaced about a move for the Croatia international at the end of March when Mourinho was spotted at Croatia’s World Cup qualifier with Ukraine in Zagreb. The rumours persisted despite the face that Perisic wasn’t playing due to suspension. Subsequent reports have claimed that United could pay as much as £51million.

Perisic is now represented by Fali Ramadani and super-agent Pini Zahavi. Ramadani believes he can secure a £100,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford.

United Out Of The Running For Tierney

But United are unlikely to make a move for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.

The 19-year-old has been watched on a number of occasions by United’s Scottish scouts. However, Jose Mourinho wants a player who can walk straight into the first team. Tierney is not yet regarded as the finished article.
