De Gea Set To Quit Manchester United ?
Real Madrid are ready to meet the €50million release clause of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Reports from Spain claimed over the weekend that De Gea is ready to quit Old Trafford at the end of the season. The Spain international keeper was sounded out by his agent Jorge Mendes in January over the possibility of a move to the Bernabeu. De Gea almost joined Real at the end of August 2015 only for the Spanish club to fail to get the paperwork lodged in time. Now, Mendes is set to put pressure on Manchester United to force through a move.
The 26-year-old has a release clause the equivalent to almost £44million in his contract with Manchester United. Real would be willing to pay that amount as they seek a replacement for Keylor Navas. The Costa Rica international looks set to quit the club at the end of the season.
But United may try to fend off interest from Real with a new contract for De Gea. As Football Gossip reported earlier this month United will offer De Gea an increase on his basic wages of £140,000 a week. However, his release clause will increase to a figure in excess of €70million (£60.8million).
United To Miss Out On Bakayoko?
Manchester United could miss out to Chelsea in the race for Monaco defensive midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Red Devils have been monitoring Bakayoko for much of the season as Monaco have stormed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
But according to a report this morning Bakayoko is said to favour a move to Chelsea over a switch to Manchester United. Coach Antonio Conte believes Bakayoko provides better value than the 28-year-old Radia Nainggolan who Chelsea tried to sign last summer.
Scouts from United, Arsenal and Juventus were all on hand to watch Bakayoko star in Monaco’s 3-1 victory over Manchester City last Wednesday that sent City crashing out of the Champions League. The 22-year-old got the vital third goal that put Monaco into the last eight.
Zlatan Staying At Manchester United
There are mixed reports over Zlatan Ibrahimovic this morning. Some UK outlets reports that United are preparing for life after the Swede with Ibrahimovic set to move to LA Galaxy this summer.
But reports from Sweden on Sunday suggested that Ibrahimovic wants to stay with Manchester United for at least one more year – possibly two. The 35-year-old wants United to put up a serious challenge for the Premier League title next season. Details here.
