Shaw Set For Manchester United Exit?
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw is being linked yet again with a move away from Old Trafford.
The 21-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho and has made only seven Premier League starts so far this season – 15 appearances in all competitions. But he was a surprise inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the forthcoming international matches with Lithuania and Germany.
The Daily Star claims today that Shaw is likely to be a transfer target for Stoke City, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United this summer.
Earlier this month, Jose Mourinho suggested that there was no chance of a move away from the club for the former Southampton man and that he represented part of the club’s future.
“I think the one that should be in the couple of years the best of all – because potentially he should have all the conditions to be the best of all – is Luke Shaw,” said Mourinho.
But the United boss has a habit of moving on any players not getting regular first-team football – as he did in January with Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin. A lack of game time for Shaw could be ushering him towards the exit.
Queue Of Clubs Monitoring Semedo
Manchester United face competition for Benfica defender Nelson Semedo.
O Jogo newspaper in Portugal reports that Juventus and AC Milan have joined United in tracking the 23-year-old. Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are also interested.
Semedo is represented by Jose Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes. His release clause currently stands at €20million (just under £18million) but Mendes is likely to demand a contract worth around €40million. Over five years that works out at around £115,000 a week.
Benfica president Luis Felipe Vieira had talks with United last month. But United don’t have any exclusivity in those negotiations and Vieira is known to have also met with Bayern.
Griezmann: It’s Up To Atletico
Manchester United transfer target Antoine Griezmann has commented once again on the chances of him leaving Atletico Madrid this summer. On this occasion he has suggested that it is up to the La Liga side whether or not he leaves.
“As I have said so many times in the past, I have a contract with Atlético, I am happy here and so is my family,” Griezmann said on Satuday.
“And besides, to leave, first the club has to want to sell me, right?”
Atletico aren’t interested in the sale of Griezmann who won’t leave unless coach Diego Simeone quits.
The France international has a release clause in his contract of €100million (£88million).
