Lindelof Manchester United Deal Agreed?
Reports from Italy are claiming that Manchester United have agreed a pre-contract transfer deal for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
The story originated earlier this week when Leggo newspaper claimed that Lindelof is being eyed up by Roma as a potential replacement for Kostas Manolas. The 25-year-old Greek centre-back was linked with United last month when it was claimed that the Red Devils had bid £32.5million.
Leggo claims that Lindelof’s buy-out clause stands at €30million (£26million) which would put him well within Roma’s reach. But at this stage the story becomes a little twisted. Calciomercato claims that United have agreed a deal that would see Lindelof move in the summer. It quotes another Italian website, Tuttomercatoweb as its source although there is no mention in Tuttomercatoweb’s story about any pre-contract deal.
Manchester United were linked with Lindelof before Christmas when it appeared he would be moving to Old Trafford in a deal worth up to £38million. But the rug was pulled from beneath the transfer and Lindelof remained where he was.
Lindelof’s agent is believed to have had talks over a reduction in his release clause – hence rumours of a £26million deal. United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was always confident of getting a cheaper deal for the 22-year-old Swede at the end of the season.
Bailly Recommends Kessie
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has recommended that the club sign his Ivory Coast international team-mate Franck Kessie.
United scouts watched Kessie play for Ivory Coast in the recent Africa Cup Of Nations in Gabon and a ‘source’ at the club has told The Sun that the 20-year-old is now a target.
“Bailly has flagged his international pal Kessie to the club. He thinks he could be the new Yaya,” the ‘source’ said.
Football Gossip first reported in December that United were already interested in Kessie. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Roma are also being linked. Reports from Italy claim Kessie and his club side Atalanta have already a summer transfer to Roma.
Zlatan’s Girlfriend Wants Italy Move
Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be on his way out of Manchester United. Reports from Italy and Sweden claimed on Thursday that Zlatan’s girlfriend, Helena Seeger, wants to move back to Italy where the couple still own a property in the centre of Milan.
Neither AC Milan nor Inter Milan are candidates to sign the 35-year-old Ibrahimovic. He looks more likely to move to Napoli. More details here.
St Etienne winger Romain Hamouma says he dreams of playing for a club like Manchester United.
Hamouma is 29 and as such looks unlikely to be the subject of any interest from Old Trafford. He told L’Equipe newspaper in France that turning professional was the most difficult phase of his career but that he now wants to play for a big club like United.
St Etienne were beaten 3-0 by United last night when the two sides clashed in a Europa League tie.
Another player in his late-twenties being linked with Manchester United is Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic. The Croatia international is 28 and is being linked with United, Arsenal and Liverpool.
“I certainly see him at United,” former Croatia international Dario Simic told Croatian newspaper Vecernji. adding that he was surprised Perisic didn’t move in the last transfer window.
However, at 28, United’s interest in Perisic is most likely at an end.
