Spanish Trio Track Arsenal Playmaker
Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is wanted by three clubs in his native Spain.
Cazorla, 31, is out of contract at the end of the season and he admits that there has been no offer as yet of any new deal from the Gunners.
But according to the Spanish website Fichajes, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia are all monitoring his situation with a view to making a move next summer.
Atletico have been watching Cazorla for some months. Coach Diego Simeone believes the former Villareal and Malaga man still has a few more years in him at the top level. Valencia are looking for a midfield playmaker to operate alongside Dani Parejo. Sevilla sporting director Monchi believes his side hasn’t enough creativity and he wants Cazorla to become the ‘brains’ of the team.
Cazorla will be free to speak to overseas clubs from January.
Wenger Firm Over Bellerin
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he expects Hector Bellerin to remain at the club.
The Spain international has been linked with interest from both Manchester City and his former club Barcelona. But speaking at his weekly pre-match press conference on Thursday, Wenger insisted there will be no move for a player whose contract still has some time to run.
“He has nearly three years to go and we always try get the players to the level where we think they deserve to be,” Wenger said. “So we try to extend, certainly, his contract.
“For me, his long-term future is here.”
Bellerin was linked during the summer with City and Barca. That interest has endured even though Arsenal have since put a £30million valuation on the 21-year-old.
The Gunners could find themselves under pressure to sell next summer. But in the meantime, talks are expected to take place over a new deal for Bellerin.
