Arsenal ‘Set For Lacazette Talks’
Arsenal are set for talks this week with the agent of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette. The 25-year-old, who is a target for West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid, was linked with the Gunners during the 2014-15 season. However, Lyon put a price tag of over £40million on the striker and Arsene Wenger kept his chequebook in his pocket.
Now, the Sunday Mirror claims Lacazette’s agent will have talks with Wenger this coming week after the Gunners missed out on Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
Lacazette was top scorer in France in 2014-15 and hit 31 goals in 40 games in all competitions for Lyon. His record in 2015-16 wasn’t quite as impressive with 23 goals in 43 games.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain has been ruled out by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas who said on Saturday that any switch to the French champions won’t go ahead.
West Ham were said this week to be closing in on a deal worth €40million (£32million). But Lacazette wants to move to a Champions League club and it will be interesting to see how any Arsenal transfer interest will be received.
Arsenal Linked With Perisic
Arsenal are tracking Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic. The 27-year-old has impressed for Croatia at Euro 2016 and has been linked with both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund.
reports from Italy claim Arsenal are now keen. However, Sky Italia journalist Andrea Paventi said on Saturday that Inter will demand a high price which is likely to deter most clubs.
“He will still be a player of Inter next season,” Paventi insisted. “The Nerazzurri will not sit at the table to deal for no less than €45-50million [£36-41million].
“That suggests that he would cost a lot, so not all teams could afford him. The intention is for Inter to keep him. He is considered untouchable.”
TalkSport suggests that Perisic is being seen as an alternative to Theo Walcott whose future at the Emirates is looking uncertain.
Kante Release Clause Has Conditions
Arsenal’s hopes of signing Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante have taken a jolt after it was claimed that the Premier League champions do not have to sell the France international.
Kante, 25, is being linked with interest from the Gunners should they decide to meet his release fee. However, Leicester are only obliged to sell him to certain clubs and it isn’t sure at the moment whether Arsenal are one of those clubs.
Kante moved to Leicester from Caen last summer for a fee of £6million. He made it into the PFA Team Of The Year for last season and has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain are known to have had talks prior heading off to the European Championships with France, but those talks came to nothing.
