Xhaka Fee Believed To Be £35m
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Switzerland international midfielder Granit Xhaka. A fee – believed to be €45million (£35million) – has been agreed with Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
“I’m very proud to be joining Arsenal,” Xhaka told the official Arsenal website. “I cannot wait to move to London, represent this special club and play in the Premier League. I will give everything to help Arsenal win trophies and make the fans happy.”
Xhaka moved to Monchengladbach from Swiss side Basel in 2012. He won two Swiss League titles and the Swiss Cup before moving to Germany and was part of a Borussia side that has finished in the top four in Germany in each of the last two seasons.
“Granit Xhaka is an exciting young player, already with good Champions League and Bundesliga experience” added Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
“We have been watching him for a long time now and he is a player who will add quality to our squad. We wish Granit a good Euro 2016 with Switzerland and look forward to welcoming him to Arsenal ahead of next season.”
Xhaka formally becomes an Arsenal player on 1 July.
