Barcelona Youngster Wants Nou Camp Stay
Arsenal transfer target Alejandro Grimaldo insists he wants to stay with Barcelona. The 20-year-old left-back was linked with the Gunners after Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez announced that Grimaldo had refused to sign a new contract and would leave at the end of the season.
“I want to stay here, the best team in the world,” Grimaldo told RAC1. “They can extend my contract for another year but they have not told me anything.”
Earlier, Fernandez had told the same outlet that Grimaldo would leave at the end of the season. He was offered on loan to Levante during the summer but he elected to continue with Barca’s B team which was relegated to Spain’s third tier at the end of last season.
The link with Arsenal appears to have come from the Daily Mirror which claims that the Gunners and Bayern Munich are in pole position. Reports from Spain link Grimaldo with Portugese side Benfica.
However, an exit does look to be on the cards as Grimaldo does not feature in Luis Enrique’s plans.
