Gunners In Griezmann Link
Griezmann is a long-time target for Arsenal with Arsene Wenger having tracked the 24-year-old prior to his £24million move to Atletico from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2014. The price tag is believed to have put off Wenger signing him at that time with Griezmann having only played for a middle-ranking La Liga side.
But the France international has boosted his reputation since his move to the Vicente Calderon Stadium and he is now being watched by Manchester United and Real Madrid as well as Arsenal.
According to the Spanish website Fichajes.net Arsenal are still looking to do a deal for Griezmann. However, they will wait until the end of the season but before the start of Euro 2016 in June before putting in any bid. They will face competition from United and Madrid but also from Atletico. The La Liga side are desperate to hang on to one of their best-performing players and will demand a transfer fee of €45million (£33million).
Arsenal In Fresh Link With Calhanoglu
Arsenal are being linked once again with Bayer Leverkusen forward Hakan Calhanoglu. Reports on Saturday claimed the Gunners have joined the race for the Turkey international. In truth the Gunners have been tracking Calhanoglu since the summer of 2013 when he was with Hamburg.
Calhanoglu moved to Bayer in 2014 for a fee of £12million. However, he was the subject of interest last month from AC Milan. Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the 21-year-old free-kick specialist who is regarded as one of Europe’s brightest young prospects.
Ospina To Quit Arsenal?
David Ospina’s Arsenal future is in the balance. The Colombia international may well make way for Petr Cech in this week’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. If that’s the case then speculation suggests he will consider his options in January.
Ospina had a nightmare in the Gunners’ 3-2 home defeat by Olympiacos last month and Arsene Wenger is under pressure to drop him for the make-or-break clash with Bayern.
The Colombian had a meeting about his future with Arsene Wenger during the summer and was under the impression he would be first-choice keeper for cup games. He wasn’t on the bench for the victory over Watford on Saturday through injury, but he is expected to be available for the game with Bayern at the Emirates on Tuesday.
