Barcelona Want Ten-Year Deal For Neymar
The president of Barcelona, Josep Maria Bartomeu, says he wants Manchester United transfer target Neymar to spend the rest of his career at the Nou Camp. The Brazilian forward is believed to have been the subject of a bid from United worth €190million (£140million). However, Bartomeu is looking to tie down Neymar with a long-term deal.
“Within a few months we will talk about a renewal, not three years or five years but ten years,” the Barcelona supremo told Catalunya Radio.
“We do not want Neymar to leave. He is young and we want him to retire here.”
Bartomeu’s comments appear to back up speculation over the weekend: that while Neymar is happy at Barcelona he could use United’s interest to try and negotiate a new deal with the Catalans.
United are reportedly prepared to make Neymar one of the highest-paid players in the world on wages of £20million a year – £400,000 a week. He currently earns around £180,000 a week at Barcelona but with endorsements at least doubling that amount.
United Target de Bruyne Heading For City?
Speculation in the European media this morning about any late Manchester United bid for Wolfsburg midfielder Kevin de Bruyne may come to nothing.
The 22-year-old was linked with a late move from United in a deal worth around £50million. However, RTL claims that the Belgium international has flown to England today to sign for Manchester City in a deal worth €70million (£50.9million).
De Bruyne trained with Wolfsburg this morning before catching a flight to England, claims the TV channel.
Both United and Bayern Munich were linked today with late bids for de Bruyne, but while Bayern categorically ruled themselves out of any deal United have been characteristically tight-lipped. Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, who looks after all the club’s transfer dealings, flew to Belgium today with the rest of the United squad ahead of the Champions League play-off tie with Club Brugge on Wednesday night.
De Gea, Valdes Omitted From Champions League Party
Spanish goalkeepers David De Gea and Victor Valdes have been left out of United’s 18-man party for the clash with Club Brugge. Neither have made the trip to Belgium.
De Gea is being linked with a move to Real Madrid but the La Liga side won’t match United’s £28million valuation. Valdes was told this summer he could leave Old Trafford after refusing to play for the under-21 side last season. Neither have played a minute’s football this season.
