Firmino, 23, was linked last week with a move to United in a story that was revealed by Brazilian journalist Jose Elias. We suggested that work permit issues could be a problem, but his agent Roger Wittman suggested that a move to a Premier League side is on the cards and that it will take place.
“All I can say is that he will be moving to a club in England,” Wittman told German newspaper Bild today.
Elias claimed United have already struck a deal for €18million (£13.1million). Press reports in Germany today claim that Hoffenheim are holding out for €25-30million (£18-22million).
While United appear to be in the box seat for Firmino’s signature he is also interesting Liverpool and Manchester City. United were also linked earlier this year with a bid for the Brazilian, though on that occasion the fee being reported was €25million.
Firmino scored ten goals in 36 games for Hoffenheim in 2014-15. He is currently with the Brazilian squad at the Copa America in Chile and he came on as a substitute 15 minutes from the end of Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Peru on Sunday night.
