Gunners In Kondogbia Bid
Reports from Spain claim Arsenal have lodged a bid for Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia. However, his agent doesn’t include the Gunners in a list of clubs who have contacted him to register any interest.
Spanish website Fichajes.net claims the Gunners are willing to pay €25million (just over £18million) for the 22-year-old. Any bid of that size is likely to be rejected by Monaco who paid Sevilla €20million for Kondogbia just two years ago.
The France international is being tipped to leave Monaco this summer as the Ligue 1 side’s Russian owners try to recoup some of their outlay. However, Kondogbia’s agent claims there has been a lot of interest.
“I have received calls from many clubs across Europe,” Kondogbia’s agent Jonathan Benbarron told Italian website FCInterNews. “There is great interest from Italian teams like Inter Milan or Juventus, but also from Manchester City and Real Madrid.”
No Arsenal, then. That suggest they’re dealing with Monaco in the first instance or that they aren’t interested.
However, Benbaron declined to give further details about any of the negotiations:
“Many of these clubs have contacted me or my work colleagues, but I cannot reveal how far advanced are the conversations we have had.”
Arsenal Transfer Bid Rejected For Higuain
The Gunners have seen a bid of just under £30million for Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain rejected by the Serie A club.
Cech ‘To Be Sold’ By Chelsea
Chelsea will sell goalkeeper Petr Cech to Arsenal, claimed one newspaper report on Friday. The Daily Telegraph suggested that having been reluctant to sell the Czech Republic international to one of their chief rivals at the top of the Premier League, Chelsea – or rather, their owner Roman Abramovich – have relented and are now prepared to let him go.
Arsenal are being linked with a bid of anywhere between £7million and £10million though their situation is complicated by the insistence of Wojciech Szczesny that he wants to see out the final three years of his contract at the Emirates. Szczesny had been considered as the prime target to leave should Cech be signed.
Cech said earlier this week that he will wait until after next weekend’s Euro 2016 game with Iceland before making any decision on his future.
Chilwell On Arsenal Transfer Watch List
Arsenal are eyeing up Leicester City youngster Ben Chilwell. Scouts from the club have watched the 18-year-old left-back in action on a number of occasions both for the Foxes’ under-21 side and England’s under-19s.
Chilwell, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for Leicester, is being looked at as an addition to the Arsenal youth ranks rather than as immediate competition for Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs.
