Varane ‘Prefers’ Manchester United Transfer

Raphael Varane Manchester United transfer newsReal Madrid defender Raphael Varane is interested in a move to Manchester United, according to reports.

The Daily Express claims that the France international prefers a £30million move to United rather than a move to Chelsea or Arsenal.

Varane, 21, is behind Serio Ramos and Pepe in the Real Madrid pecking order and is the paper claims he is looking to quit the club in favour of a move to Old Trafford.

However, there is little likelihood of Real selling Varane. They spent £8million on the youngster when they bought him from French side Lens in 2011. But the La Liga giants regard him as one for the future and are unlikely to sanction any move away from the Bernabeu.

United may well be interested in Varane, but a move this summer isn’t on the cards.

Falcao In Valencia Link

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao could be a target for Valencia this summer.

Reports from Spain claim that the Colombia international could head to the La Liga side once his loan spell at Old Trafford comes to an end in the summer.

Falcao has had a disappointing season so far with just four goals for the Red Devils. United have the option of making his move permanent this summer on payment of €50million (£37million).

ESPN claims that Falcao’s agent Jorge Mendes is in talks with Valencia owner Peter Lim about a possible move. The two men know each other very well and were reported in the summer of 2013 to be ready to link up for a takeover bid for Middlesbrough. Singapore billionaire Lim ended up buying Valencia instead.

United paid a £6million loan fee for Falcao and are paying his wages of £280,000 a week. The move would therefore be costly for Valencia, but Lim wants his club to challenge for a place back in Europe’s elite and would therefore be willing to bankroll such a move.

As for Falcao, his days for United appear to be numbered. His four goals have come in 17 Premier League games at an average of one for every 252 minutes on the pitch – the worst return of his career. Mendes is due into Manchester for talks with the United hierarchy this week. It would be a surprise if United exercised their option to buy him permanently.

United Linked With Lavezzi

Meanwhile, reports linking Manchester United with Paris Saint-Germain forward Ezequiel Lavezzi are far-fetched.

The reports come from the Spanish website Fichajes.net which claims that United are hoping to sign Lavezzi and will throw in Angel Di Maria as part of the deal.

However, the report is highly speculative. Lavezzi will certainly leave PSG in the summer, but he is more likely to move to Italy. Inter Milan, Napoli and Juventus are all keen with the first of those three now the favourites to secure his signature.

Lavezzi was linked last summer with Liverpool and while Metro newspaper claims today that United will beat the Reds to his signature the truth is that Liverpool’s interest waned long ago.

Even so, a United move for Lavezzi looks unlikely.
