Arsenal moved back into third place in the Premier League after a 2-0 victory over Everton at the Emirates on Sunday.
Olivier Giroud volleyed the Gunners in front on 38 minutes from Mesut Ozil’s corner. The Frenchman had a missed a header from just outside the six-yard box earlier in the half in what appeared to be a continuation of his poor form in the Champions League match with Monaco on Wednesday. This was his first shot on target in 12 efforts over the two games.
Tomas Rosicky wrapped up the points for Arsenal in the last minute of normal time when his shot deflected off Everton defender Phil Jagielka.
Manchester City’s defeat at Liverpool earlier on today means Arsenal are now just four points behind the Premier League champions. Everton remain in 14th place just six points above the drop zone.
