Arsenal ‘To Step Up’ Pogba Interest
The Daily Express claims that Arsene Wenger will step up his interest in the former Manchester United man after seeing his hopes dashed of a bid for Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin. The Frenchman is apparently a target for Barcelona even though the Catalan side are banned from signing any new players before the beginning of January 2016.
Arsenal were linked with Pogba prior to his exit from Manchester United in 2012. But he chose instead to break with the Premier League completely and move to Serie A side Juventus. He has since gone on to become one of Europe’s top midfielder, but rumours coming from Italy claim he could leave Juve this summer and that the Turin giants will let him go in order to invest in other aspects of their squad.
But any Arsenal bid will have to be somewhere in the region of £80million. That’s the price tag Juve have put on the France international. Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.
Gundogan To Extend At Dortmund?
Arsenal transfer target Ilkay Gundogan could be about to sign a new deal with Borussia Dortmund. The Germany international is out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid.
“I don’t want to say anything,” said Gundogan at the weekend. But talks are expected to begin on Wednesday between Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc and Gundogan’s father Ilfay Gundogan, who acts as his agent.
Dortmund forward Marco Reus recently signed a new deal with the club whose three wins on the trot have lifted them out of the Bundesliga relegation zone. The 2013 Champions League runners-up are hoping Gundogan will do the same.
Arsenal were linked last month with Gundogan, but no bid was forthcoming from the Gunners.
