Inter, Arsenal Close To Deal For Podolski – Report

Serie Side Want Loan And Summer Move

Lukas Podolski Arsenal transferArsenal striker Lukas Podolski is close to a loan move to Inter Milan for the rest of the season, according to reports from Italy.

Corriere dello Sport claims that Podolski will move to Inter in January until the end of the season. Arsenal are willing to grant the Serie A side the right to buy him permanently next summer on payment of €8million (£6.4million). However, Inter are only willing to pay €5-6million (£4-£4.8million).

Podolski has been edged out of Arsene Wenger’s plans this season. He has just seven substitute appearances in the Premier League totalling 99 minutes on the pitch. He has also been an unused substitute on seven further occasions and his only appearances in the starting line-up have been in cup competitions.

The Germany international has been warned by national team coach Jogi Low that a lack of playing time will affect his prospects of playing in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Inter are hoping to have Podolski available for the match with Juventus on 6 January. That would necessitate having a medical prior to the end of the year. Should he be unavailable for the clash with Juve he is likely to make his debut in the match with Genoa on 11 January.
