Reds In Benzema Link

Karim Benzema Liverpool transferLiverpool are being linked with an unlikely-sounding £50million January bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Frenchman signed a new deal earlier this year but reports from Spain claim that Real Madrid want a front three of Sergio Aguero, Marco Reus and Cristiano Ronaldo and that Benzema will be sold to raise funds to bid for Aguero and Reus.

A number of Spanish journalists are also suggesting that Benzema’s place in the squad is at risk and that Real will listen to any serious bid. The Daily Express gets in on the act by claiming Benzema is a £50million target for Liverpool following Mario Balotelli’s poor form this season.

But the link between Benzema and Liverpool is highly speculative and there is no concrete evidence linking Liverpool with any move for Benzema, never mind one worth £50million.

Liverpool are also being linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph. The 24-year-old England international is out of contract at the end of the season and is dragging his feet over a new deal.

Reports suggest that Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers sees as the natural successor to Steven Gerrard. The 34-year-old is also out of contract this summer and is being linked with a move to MLS side New York Red Bulls if he fails to sign a new deal at Anfield.

Finally, Liverpool are monitoring Celtic centre-back Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman has been linked with an exit from the Scottish champions with a number of English clubs said to be interested. Arsenal have also been strongly linked.
