Liverpool Rule Out Origi Recall

Divock Origi Liverpool transferLiverpool have ruled out an early move to Anfield for teenage striker Divock Origi.

The 19-year-old is currently on loan at his former club Lille as part of the £10million deal that Liverpool signed with the French side last summer.

Reports in France today claimed the Reds would pay €6million (£4.8million) to Lille to remove the no-recall clause from the transfer agreement. However, Liverpool tonight denied the existence of an early move to Anfield for Origi.

The Belgium international’s form this season hasn’t matched that of 2013-14 when he first came to Liverpool’s attention.

He started in 12 Ligue 1 games last season and was a substitute in 18 others, scoring five goals in 1277 minutes on the pitch. This season he has become more of a first-team regular with 12 starts and just three appearances off the bench. However, his 1130 minutes of playing time have seen him score just three goals.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers ruled out a move for Origi last month. These latest rumours began in the French newspaper L’Equipe which quotes a “source close to the case” as the origin of the story.
