Cuadrado In New Manchester United Transfer Link
The 26-year-old was linked during the summer with interest from both United and La Liga giants Barcelona. But after Fiorentina reportedly held out for a transfer fee of €40million (£32million) interest from both clubs waned and Cuadrado ended up staying with the Serie A side.
The Colombian signed a new deal with Fiorentina in October, but reports from Italy claim he already wants a change of scenery despite this new deal running to 2019. That has led to rumours about a possible bid from United. Barcelona have been ruled out due to the two-window transfer embargo imposed on them by Fifa.
Cuadrado has started in 12 of Fioretina’s 15 Serie A games this season. But he has played the full 90 minutes in just five of those games and is said to be growing frustrated at the amount of playing time he gets.
His new contract pays the equivalent of £80,000 a week before tax. However, there is a release fee in the deal which would only see him leave Fiorentina on payment of €35million (£28million). It remains to be seen whether United are still interested in the winger at that price.
Roma Insist Strootman Is Staying
Manchester United transfer target Kevin Strootman will not be sold by Roma in January, says the Serie A club’s director general, Mauro Baldissoni.
Speculation has intensified over a United move for the Netherlands international after his recent return to first-team football following an eight-month injury lay-off.
Roma currently lie in second place in Serie A, just a point behind leaders Juventus, and Baldissoni says player like Strootman are vital to the future of the club.
“Strootman gets very upset when he reads the daily speculation about his future,” Baldissoni told Corriere dello Sport.
“Our president has already said he won’t be leaving. He is a player with a long contract and it is on people such as him that we are basing our future.”
United have been linked with a January bid for Strootman, but Roma’s insistence he is going nowhere, along with the eight-month lay-off with a cruciate knee ligament injury, suggests Louis van Gaal will at least wait until the summer before making any move.
