The 21-year-old has been linked with Arsenal with reports from Spain even claiming that a bid of €15million (£12.5million) has been lodged by the Gunners.
That claim has been partly demolished by the latest reports surrounding Silva and a move to Real Madrid. Marca newspaper claims Real and Cruzeiro are €3million apart in their valuations of the player. Real have bid €12million (£9.6million) while Cruzeiro are demanding €15million.
Had a €15million Arsenal bid been forthcoming then Silva might have been closer to a move to the Emirates. However, he seems to have his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu, which he has described as “a dream”.
Real will spend the next few weeks trying to chip away at Cruzeiro over the price differential. But it looks almost certain that Silva will end up as a Real Madrid player – and probably in January rather than next summer.
Any deal is likely to mean the end of Madrid’s interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Germany international Christoph Kramer. The 23-year-old has also been linked with Arsenal but has hinted that he will go back to Bayer once his loan spell at their Bundesliga rivals Borussia Monchengladbach ends next summer.
