City, Chelsea Handed Repeat Tasks
Manchester City have been handed a tough draw in the Champions League Round of 16 draw. The Premier League champions take on Barcelona with the first leg taking place at City’s Etihad Stadium. City were eliminated by Barca at the same stage of last season’s competition.
Chelsea will face a return trip to Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues defeated PSG in last year’s quarter-final before being eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the semi-final.
Arsenal face Ligue 1 big-spenders Monaco, though the French side have struggled this season to replicate the kind of form that saw then finish runners-up to PSG in 2013-14.
Holders Real Madrid face Bundesliga opposition in the shape of Schalke 04 while Liverpool’s conquerors Basel face Porto.
The full draw is as follows:
Shakhtar Donetsk v Bayern Munich
Schalke v Real Madrid
Juventus v Borussia Dortmund
Bayer Leverkusen v Atletico Madrid
Manchester City v Barcelona
Paris St-Germain v Chelsea
Arsenal v Monaco
First legs take place on 17-18 and 24-25 February with the return matches on 10-11 and 17-18 March.
