Pogba In Fresh Arsenal Transfer Link
The France international was said to be an Arsenal target over two years ago as his time with Manchester United drew to a close. However, he moved instead to Serie A side Juventus where he has built up a reputation as one of the league’s top midfielders.
The Daily Express claims that Arsenal, along with Manchester City, Chelsea and even Manchester United, will do battle for Pogba this summer. The 21-year-old recently signed a new contract with Juventus to make him one of the five highest-paid players in Italy. But at £120,000 a week the deal is still considerably less than Pogba could earn in England.
City look to be favourites to secure his signature – should he decide to leave. But at present, the £40million-rated Pogba is more likely to remain with Juve than seek a move back to the Premier League.
City want him to replace Yaya Toure, while Arsene Wenger may rekindle his interest almost three years after Pogba slipped through his fingers.
Lichtsteiner In Contract Talks
Arsenal have also been linked with another Juventus player, full-back Stephan Lichtsteiner. But the Switzerland international looks set to be offered a new deal by the Italian club.
Lichtsteiner was linked with Arsenal during the 2013-14 season and speculation over a possible move to the Premier League has been revived as he heads towards the end of his current deal.
But reports from Italy claim the 31-year-old will be offered a new contract by Juve. Lichtsteiner’s agent Federico Pastorello met with Juventus officials earlier this week to discuss an extension to his time with the Serie A champions.
Arsenal Transfer Target Reus To Quit Dortmund?
Meanwhile, Arsenal transfer target Marco Reus looks set to quit Borussia Dortmund next summer.
The Germany international has a release clause in his contract that can be triggered after 31 May next year with a payment of £20million. Arsenal, the two Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Real Madrid are amongst the sides interested in Reus, who was reported earlier this week to be taking Spanish lessons.
However, despite Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke claiming yesterday that he believes Reus will still be with the club next season, rumours in Italy suggest the Bundesliga side are preparing a bid for AC Milan’s Stephan El-Shaarawy as Reus’s replacement.
