United Legend Has Started Just Six Games
Reports from Italy claim that Patrice Evra could head back to Old Trafford in a surprise Manchester United transfer in January. The France international moved to Juventus in the summer but he has started in just six Serie A games for the club and reports suggest the Italian club may offer him back to United.
Evra signed a two-year deal worth £65,000 a week but Juve are set to recall Paolo de Ceglie back from Parma, claims Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
Juve need to increase the number of home-grown players in their squad under new regulations coming into force in Serie A next season. De Ceglie’s return would help in that regard and Evra would be moved on as a result.
Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Evra has struggled to adapt to life in Serie A – hence Juve’s willingness to let him go.
The 33-year-old has played only sporadically for Juventus this season though he has played in the club’s last two Serie A games: the goalless draw with Fiorentina on Friday night, and the 2-1 victory over Torino last weekend.
A move back to Old Trafford would suit Manchester United whose injuries problems have seen their defence severely weakened this season.
