Keane Scores Winner To Clinch MLS Cup For LA Galaxy [Video]

Robbie Keane scored a 111th-minute winner for LA Galaxy last night as they won a record fifth MLS Cup.

The 34-year-old Republic Of Ireland pounced on a hopeful through ball over the top of the New England Revolution defence with just nine minutes of extra time remaining to give Galaxy a 2-1 victory over the Revs in Carson City, California last night.

The Revolution were playing in their fifth MLS Cup and have lost the lot.

Gyasi Zardes scored in the 52nd minute to put Galaxy in front only for Chris Tierney to level 12 minutes before the end to put the game into extra time.

For Galaxy’s Landon Donovan it brought the curtain down on a career that has seen him score 144 MLS goals along with US Men’s National Team record of 57 goals in 157 games.

Keane, however, is being linked with a return to the Premier League in England. The former Spurs and Liverpool man is wanted by QPR boss Harry Redknapp in a January loan deal.

Major League Soccer released this super slo-mo video of Robbie Keane’s late winner.
