Reid In Liverpool Transfer Link
Reid is out of contract at the end of the season and is dragging his heels over a new deal with West Ham. The New Zealand international is believed to have rejected a new deal with the Hammers worth £45,000 a week and is holding out for a pay packet worth £60,000 a week.
Arsenal and Manchester United have both been linked with Reid but The Sun On Sunday is now linking him with interest from Liverpool.
However, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is still confident a deal can be agreed for Reid.
“I think it will happen like it did last time when we get closer to the end of the season,” Allardyce said on Friday.
Benzema For Liverpool?
Meanwhile, the Daily Express claims Liverpool are keen on Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The France international has scored 13 goals in 18 games so far this season, but the Express claims Madrid have already made the decision to sell Benzema next summer and are ready to replace him with Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich.
However, both Muller and Benzema signed new contracts with their respective clubs earlier this summer. Neither look as though they want to leave their current clubs and with next season’s Champions League disappearing over the horizon for Liverpool it is doubtful they will be able to attract the 26-year-old to Anfield.
Martinez Is Target for Liverpool, Spurs
Liverpool are still being linked with Jackson Martinez. That’s despite one of his representatives claiming the Colombia international won’t be quitting Porto in January.
Martinez has scored 13 times in 18 games this season, but his £28million release fee is likely to be a problem for both Liverpool and Spurs – as will his age. Martinez is already 28 and is at the stage where he will have little or no re-sale value if he is sold again.
Last week, Martinez’s representative Luiz Henrique Pompeu insisted that he isn’t looking to quit Porto in January.
However, the Mail On Sunday insists that both Martinez and West Bromwich Albion’s England under-21 international Saido Berahino are options for Brendan Rodgers.
