Destro In Arsenal Transfer Link

Mattia Destro Arsenal transferArsenal transfer target Mattia Destro is edging towards a move to the Emirates.

The Sun On Sunday claims today that Destro’s agent is due to fly to London this week for talks with Arsenal over a possible January move away from Serie A side Roma.

Destro was linked with Arsenal over the summer, but Roma’s £19million valuation scuppered any deal. He scored 13 goals in just 20 Serie A games last season and has added another four in 12 games in the current campaign despite coming off the bench in five of those matches.

The 23-year-old said last month that he is happy being linked with Arsenal although his previous comments have suggested he is only prepared to move at the end of the season. But his agent’s reported presence in London could bring forward any deal.

Cazorla Linked With Spanish Move

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla is a transfer target for a number of clubs in his native Spain, according to speculation today.

Spanish website Fichajes.com claims that Cazorla wants to leave Arsenal after three years with the club and move to Atletico Madrid. The Daily Star Sunday picks up on the report and adds that no fewer than three La Liga clubs are keen on Cazorla.

The speculation sounds very much like a report that was doing the rounds during the summer. Then, it was claimed that Cazorla was wanted by Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, but the Spain international moved to scotch the rumours in August when he said:

“I am well here and I hope to have a good year. At the moment there is nothing. It’s a thing of the press.”

But the Star tries to fuel the flames by adding that Cazorla faces stiff competition for his place in the side once Arsenal’s injury problems ease and that he hasn’t scored since the Community Shield victory over Manchester City in August.

Arsenal will demand around €20million (£16million) from Spanish clubs despite Cazorla’s contract only expiring in 2016. His £80,000-a-week pay packet will also be difficult for Atletico to match.

Arsenal face competition from Chelsea for Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus. Reports last weekend suggested the Premier League leaders weren’t interested in signing Reus. Reports this weekend claim he is still on Jose Mourinho’s transfer radar.

Reus has a release fee of £20million which kicks in next summer. The Germany international has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
