Asensio Real Madrid Transfer Postponed

Mallorca Board Want More Time

Marco Asensio Real Madrid transferThe Real Madrid transfer of Marco Asensio has been put on hold while Real Mallorca’s board take more time to think about the deal.

The 18-year-old – who has also been linked with Premier League side Arsenal – was all set to move to the European champions after Real agreed to pay his £3million release fee. The deal also allowed Asensio to remain with Mallorca for the rest of the season unless Real Madrid were hit by injuries and were willing to pay an additional $635,000.

But the deal has been put on hold, much to the embarrassment – and annoyance – of Mallorca’s director of football, Miguel Angel Nadal.

“We didn’t have enough time,” Nadal said.

“I didn’t manage to participate in the board meeting because their discussions of the club’s accounts kept on being extended.

“Marco needs to have his future decided, so I apologise to him, but at the moment it’s a matter of waiting. I’m convinced that the move will go through.

“Real Madrid were waiting for a response, so I’m going to have to apologise to them because we don’t have one, although I have to say apologising is not something I particularly like to do when I’m not personally to blame.

“If it wasn’t for Mallorca I wouldn’t be doing this”.

Lucas Hints At Summer Move

Real Madrid also look set to beat Arsenal to the signature of Brazilian youngster Lucas Silva. The 21-year-old told SporTV in Brazil that it would be “a dream” to move to the Bernabeu, but he hinted that such a move might have to wait until the summer.

“I don’t know if they are going to propose me joining them midway through or at the end of the season, whether I’ll stick around for the Copa Libertadores or not,” said the Cruzeiro youngster who has just helped his side to a second successive Brazilian championship.

“I don’t yet know what’s going to happen. However it’d be interesting to stay for the Libertadores and then join them for pre-season.”

Arsenal were reported this week to have bid €15million (£12.5million) for Silva, but he appears to have his heart set on a move to Madrid.
