Arsenal Warned Over Van Dijk
The Dutchman has been picking up rave reviews this season for his performances with Celtic and has been linked with an Arsenal transfer bid of around £8million in the January transfer window.
However, Celtic boss Ronnie Deila says he won’t let the 23-year-old go on the cheap.
“Virgil works hard in training and is more focused. He’s going to be expensive but he loves to be here,” Deila said after van Dijk scored twice his side’s 4-0 Scottish Cup victory over Hearts on Sunday.
“I really hope that we can keep him. That is the priority. If he is going I hope it is to the biggest clubs and not an average Premier League team.
“He has everything you need to do it at that level but I hope we can keep him to challenge for four competitions.
“That would be good for him too. He is our player and we have him on a long contract.”
Van Dijk moved to Celtic from Dutch side Groningen for a fee of £2.6million in June 2013. He played in 36 of Celtic’s 38 Scottish Premiership games last season and has appeared in 11 of their games this season.
Podolski, Campbell Heading For Exits?
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is planning to off-load both Lukas Podolski and Joel Campbell in January, says The Times.
Germany international Podolski is known to be frustrated at a lack of first-team football. He saw Yaya Sanogo chosen ahead of him for last week’s Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund and has been warned by Germany boss Joachim Low that his place in the national team is under threat if he fails to find regular first-team football.
Serie A sides Juventus and Inter Milan, Turkish champions Galatasaray and Bundesliga title challengers Wolfsburg have all been linked with the 29-year-old.
Campbell finds himself in a similar position. Everton have been linked with the Costa Rican who has also picked up very little in playing time so far this season.
