Cabaye In Arsenal Transfer Link

Yohan Cabaye Arsenal transferFormer Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye is an Arsenal transfer target, according to reports.

Arsenal were linked with Cabaye before his move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year, but the Gunners were only prepared to pay £12million for the France international. Cabaye moved from Newcastle to Paris Saint-Germain for £19million in January.

First-team opportunities have been limited for Cabaye. He started in nine Ligue 1 games for PSG during the second half of last season and has been in the starting line-up in seven games so far this season. That’s out of the 14 that PSG have played in the current campaign.

Speculation has heightened over a return to England for Cabaye with Manchester United and Liverpool also linked, but the paper claims Arsenal are favourites to secure his signature with Arsene Wenger preparing to give PSG the £19million they paid for him.

Whether they will open to the sale of a player who is still very much in the thoughts of coach Laurent Blanc is another matter. Cabaye has been a substitute on five further occasions this season.

No Arsenal Move For Cech

There won’t be an Arsenal transfer for Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger replied with a brusque “No!” when asked on Friday whether he was interested in signing the Czech Republic international.

Reports over the past week have suggested that Cech would be heading to the Emirates Stadium in January in a deal worth £7million. Liverpool have also been linked along with AC Milan, Real Madrid and Monaco.

Cech is known to be unhappy at Chelsea having lost his place in the side to Thibaut Courtois. However, his age – Cech is 32 – usually rules out any Arsenal interest.

Plus the Gunners have David Ospina as Wojciech Szczesny’s understudy. The Colombian World Cup star moved to the Emirates from Nice last summer for a fee of just over £3million.
