Lambert On The Move?
The England international only moved to Anfield in a £4million transfer during the summer, but in a report that appears to be totally without foundation the Sunday Express claims Lambert could move back to St Mary’s in a search for first-team football.
The 32-year-old has started just once in the Premier League for Liverpool this season and has made eight substitute appearances. But that adds up to just 175 minutes of football and he has yet to find the back of the net in the league.
The Express adds no further information to back up its claim and it appears to be nothing more than idle speculation. With Daniel Sturridge out of action to the New Year the notion that Liverpool will reduce their striking options even further sounds unlikely.
Reds Given Hope Over Schneiderlin
Meanwhile, Liverpool transfer target Morgan Schneiderlin could be on his way out of Southampton next summer.
The France international has been linked with interest from Anfield since the summer, but the Saints put the skids on any move after a number of high-profile departures.
However, Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has admitted that Schneiderlin could be on his way out of St Mary’s.
“Keeping Morgan here will not be easy. We will have to see what happens,” Koeman said at a press conference ahead of Southampton’s trip to Aston Villa on Monday.
Any move is likely to take place in the summer rather than in January. Arsenal and Tottenham will also be monitoring Schneiderlin’s situation.
